They have actually been in the brooder, with near constant care. We have kept their area cleaned, with clean water and fresh food. They have been examined daily for feet problem, pasty butt, and any signs of disease, weakness or other issues. They are now three weeks old, they are all healthy, strong, and all set for a new home. Guine fowl can live to be 10 - 15 years old (with little maitenence, however the appropriate care, naturally). The Royal Purple is a more uncommon variation, and a domesticated coz of the typical pearl gray guinea fowl that the majority of individuals are made use of to seeing. Guinea Fowl are great "watch dog" birds, letting you know if something isn't really rather best. They are especially great for natural insect and insect control, including snakes, spiders, fleas, ticks, and lots of, numerous other problematic vermin. You can even discover video of them chasing off rattlesnakes. However, when they discover who is supposed to be there, and who isn't really, they will accept people and a lot of animals as part of the flock, but not necessarily part of the click. They mingle right in with chickens. Our adults guinea fowl will satisfy our pet dogs at the fence line for a check out. Unlike having two male roosters, which tend to battle, you can have many male guinea fowl in the yard/coop together. We do not consume them, they're part of the family to us, and we are not selling them as food, however both the meat of a grown guinea fowl and their eggs are expected to include hardly any cholesterol, while being healthy. The pictures, 1 - 5 are of the keets, taken 8-17-14. Photo 6 shows three of the ADULT Royal Purple Hens, and one ADULT Male, surrounding one keet, simply for color contrast.
